Blue House Energy
Description
Blue House Energy provides seriously enjoyable learning. Led by building science expert Shawna Henderson, the team works with colleagues, community, and industry organizations to improve and expand our catalogue of interactive on-demand courses for residential construction and renovation across North America.
Our focus is building science, construction technology, and energy conservation for new and existing houses as well as basic industry skills like math and plans reading. All BHE courses meet program requirements for competency training and continuing education/professional development with key industry organizations across Canada and the US. Since 2012, nearly 10,000 housing professionals have chosen Blue House Energy as their continuing education provider.
Our on-demand courses are:
• Designed using proven adult education and online instructional design principles
• Developed in conjunction with industry subject matter experts
• Delivered in a user-friendly interactive format
• Offered at a competitive price point
• Easy to use - no need for specialized equipment or software
• Updated regularly to match building code changes, program requirements, material and equipment innovations
• Supported by email study tips, building science challenges, and bonus material on hot topics like new materials, deep energy retrofits, and low-carbon housing issues
• Include access to an audio version directly from your phone (like a podcast)
In 2018, we introduced our on-demand Energy Advisor training that is used throughout Canada to prepare for NRCan’s Foundation and House Exams. We also have a stand-alone instructor-led Introduction to HOT2000 Energy Modeling, taught by seasoned EAs (we’ll be adding a MURB modeling course later this year).
We’re passionate about high-performance construction, deep retrofits, and improving the know-how of our industry so we can provide Canadians with durable, comfortable, and resilient housing.
