Katie Wheatley serves as Head of Canada for the UN-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI), and is based in Montreal, Quebec. The PRI brings responsible investors together to work towards sustainable markets that contribute to a more prosperous world for all. Prior to joining the PRI, Katie supported asset owners in developing and furthering their approach to ESG risks and opportunities through responsible investment governance, and led the award-winning Reconciliation and Responsible Investment Initiative, which collaborates with Indigenous and non-Indigenous investors to build capital markets that advance reconciliation goals and respect for Indigenous rights. Earlier in her career, Katie led several initiatives that advanced Indigenous rights recognition, community development, and environmental sustainability across Canada. This included directly supporting First Nations in Alberta and British Columbia to uphold Indigenous rights and title through government consultation and industry negotiations.
