Ecotrust Canada is a national charity that has a 28-year history working with rural, remote and Indigenous communities to build resilient, local economies. Our strategies explore alternative solutions, both new and old, that are outside the bounds of the dominant economic system. Through our community partnerships, we focus on demonstrating change on-the-ground, through real, tangible projects that challenge the status quo.
The vision of Ecotrust Canada’s Community Energy Initiative is energy security for all – a society where everyone has access to clean, affordable sources of energy, and nobody has to choose between heating their home and feeding their family. Working toward this guiding vision, we identify, test, and scale strategies that can achieve a transformative shift toward a climate-resilient, regenerative economy, just and equitable energy policies, and a reduction in rates of energy insecurity across Canada.
