Dr. Kuljeet S. Grewal is an Assistant Professor in Sustainable Design Engineering at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI). In September 2021, Dr. Grewal established the Future Urban Energy Lab for Sustainability (FUEL-S). His innovative transdisciplinary research integrates engineering, architecture, urban planning, and policymaking. His work emphasizes energy-efficient urban design and the planning and optimization of energy resources, promoting long-term sustainability and adaptation to technological, economic, and environmental changes. Dr. Grewal served as sub-task leader for Task 63: Solar Neighborhood Planning. He also served as a Guest Editor for two special issues in the Energies Journal, focusing on Advances in Energy-Efficient Buildings. To date, he has published 42 peer-reviewed international journal articles, authored 4 international reports for the IEA, and several conferences and book chapter. Dr. Grewal leads a number of funded research projects through NSERC, provincial governments, MITACS, and industry partners. His projects showcase innovative leadership and foster community-led transitions and living labs, devising novel energy modeling and planning techniques.
