Speaker Bio
Alex began working with the Green Building Technology Access Centre (GBTAC) prior to graduating from SAIT’s School of Construction’s Architectural Technologies diploma program where she was introduced to architectural drafting and building science.
Over the course of seven years, she has worked on projects involved with sustainable building standards such as the Living Building Challenge (LBC), WELL, and Passive House. She has developed a variety of educational and training content through a wide range of projects, targeting demographics from elementary school to industry professionals, building owners, and real estate professionals. Educational topics have included introductory concepts to green buildings and sustainability in construction, retrofitting and energy performance, and implications from Canada’s new, more stringent building codes on design and industry. More recently, Alex has also developed critical engagement skills through her work with Indigenous communities and organizations on topics such as retrofitting and building (housing) resiliency.
She plans to continue her career through completing a master’s degree in architecture, with goals to become an architect focused on wholistic design integrated with sustainable measures and occupant health and comfort.
