Rebecca is a building science expert with a passion for energy-efficiency and living sustainably. An Edmonton native, she has lived and worked around the world, learning about how people in different countries use and conserve energy. She started her career by designing industrial heat exchangers in France, then moved back to Canada to troubleshoot tailings ponds in the Alberta oil sands. She made the transition to the high-performance building sector in 2016 and obtained her PhD in Mechanical Engineering (Sustainable Building Energy Systems) in 2023. She and her partner recently completed a deep energy retrofit of their 1950s home in Edmonton.
Rebecca has a BSc (ChemEng) from the University of Alberta, an MScTech (Energy & Policy) from Ecole des Mines de Paris, and a PhD (MechEng) from Carleton University. Her experimental research focused on seasonal thermal storage for residential buildings in cold climates.
