Wanjiru is a communications strategist helping cities turn climate ambition into equitable action by bringing together leaders across sectors and lived expertise to unlock solutions, strengthen public trust, and remove narrative barriers that slow progress. Through her work as the Communications Director at Urban Climate Leadership (a project of MakeWay), she ensures that the people and communities most impacted by climate risks have a leading voice in how solutions are designed and implemented in cities across Canada. With over 15 years working across local and international organizations in health, equity, and climate, she brings a global lens to communications and ethical storytelling that connects people, policy, and practice at the local level. At Retrofit Canada, Wanjiru will facilitate a roundtable on communicating climate action in ways that resonate, centring equity, trust, and lived experience to strengthen retrofit storytelling and drive lasting uptake.
