Case Study: Rural Retrofit Delivery and Energy Navigators (15 minutes)
A community-led initiative delivered net-zero upgrades across 21 rural buildings by combining stacked funding, coordinated delivery, and dedicated energy navigators to guide projects from start to finish. This session will examine how the model streamlined decision-making, supported participants, and enabled multiple projects to be implemented at scale.
Building Resilient Communities Through Retrofit
Retrofitting at scale is one of Canada's most powerful tools for building communities that can thrive through climate, economic, and demographic change. This session examines three pillars of community resilience through retrofit: smart land use and adaptive reuse — including office-to-residential conversion, with the Sidewalk RED Halifax federal building conversion as a case study; policy levers driving retrofit acceleration across regions; and climate adaptation upgrades that keep communities safe and functional through extreme weather and grid disruption.
