Modelling Adaptation Retrofits in Residential Buildings
Building performance simulation (BPS) tools are often used to demonstrate compliance with energy codes, or to analyze the energy savings potential of various design and control options. However, BPS tools are typically not limited to energy performance simulation alone. Many tools have additional integrated solvers capable of modelling indoor environmental quality daylighting, or acoustics. By leveraging these capabilities, retrofits for climate resilience can be assessed across several key performance indicators to explore solutions that are balanced and to limit unintended consequences.
Show Me the Money: Scaling Retrofits Without Grants
Canada's retrofit challenge isn't technical, it's financial. This session explores how to move beyond grant-dependent projects by reframing the business case around co-benefits, including asset value, risk reduction, and occupant performance. Drawing on real pilot studies and decarbonization pathways, it highlights how to unlock investment and transition from studies to scalable, market-driven retrofit delivery.
